Jewel Stag Beetle (Lamprima adolphinae)

Jewel Stag Beetle (Lamprima adolphinae)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Setup

For adult beetles their enclosure should be at least 3 times as tall as the beetle is long, and at least 2 times as wide as the beetle is long. For a pair I would recommend at least double to triple this size or 1.5 gallons.

Enclosure Size for Larva:
L1/L2: 5.5oz Deli Cup
L3: 8-16oz Deli Cup

Decor:
Adult beetles may be provided with fake or live plants and/or pieces of wood, beetle larva should not be kept with any decor.

Temperature & Humidity:
68°-78°
60%-80%

Feeding

Adult beetles feed upon jellies, do not feed human jelly as it does not contain the proper nutrients for beetles to stay healthy. Beetle larva feed upon flake soil or kinshi.

Extra Information

Despite jewel stag beetles having pinchers they are used and designed for fighting other males. They rarely pinch people and when they do it does not hurt.

Jewel stag beetles come in a range of colors, from green, to copper, red, purple, and blue. They can also come in a morph called "Ghost Eye", this causes a cloudy white appearance to their eyes.
