Salvinia oblongifolia is an excellent floating plant for aquariums and paludariums. Its broad leaves and bushy root systems provide natural cover and enrichment for fish, shrimp, snails, and other aquatic or semi-aquatic animals.
This plant can also function as a natural spawning mop, offering a safe place for fish to deposit eggs. Ricefish and killifish are especially known to utilize this plant for spawning.
